Licensed Practical Nurses - New Jersey LPN Admissions Requirements
Admission to the Practical Nursing program at The Center is competitive. It is our goal to graduate students who exhibit distinctive characteristics valued by their community of interest. To accomplish this goal, admission criteria have been developed for each program to provide minimum standards by which applicant suitability may be determined. Often the applicant pool exceeds the maximum number of students admitted into a program. The following contains a brief description of the admission criteria for each program.
Admission Requirements
In order to be considered for admission into the Practical Nursing program, applicants must undertake and meet the following minimum admission criteria:
In addition to the foregoing requirements, applicants must also be able to demonstrate the ability to meet certain minimum technical standards (the “Technical Standards”), including:
The foregoing technical standards must be met with or without accommodations. The Center complies with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and will make reasonable accommodations for an applicant with a disability that is otherwise qualified.
*Meeting the minimum criteria for admission does not guarantee admission to the practical nursing program. The Center may require applicants to successfully complete or meet other conditions prior to acceptance into the practical nursing program
Admission Process
Applicants are accepted into the Practical Nursing program based on, among other things, their application responses, references, interview results, entrance and critical thinking exam results, grades in prerequisite courses and other factors. Applicants are notified as to their status (acceptance or denial into program) by letter. The number of accepted applicants does vary from year to year. Meeting the minimum criteria for admission does not guarantee admission into the Practical Nursing program. The Center may require applicants to successfully complete or meet other conditions prior to acceptance into the Practical Nursing program. These other conditions include, but are not limited to:
